Margao: A family vacation in Goa turned tragic for a Bengaluru family after one of its members, 29-year-old Clement Stenley, drowned in the waters off the Rajbag-Tarir beach at Canacona, Thursday morning.
Police sources said that the deceased had come down to Goa alongwith his parents and a sister, and the family had put up in Palolem.
On Thursday morning, all the four went to Rajbag beach and ventured into the waters for a swim.
However, Stenley soon found himself pulled in by the strong currents, police sources said.
Lifeguards on duty who saw Stenley struggling to stay afloat soon rushed to his aid and pulled him out of the waters.
Sources said that Stenley was unconscious when he was brought to the shore and the lifeguards made several attempts to revive him. He was later rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, where he was declared brought dead.
Sources said that the deceased was a musician, and the family had travelled to Goa by their car three days ago.
Canacona police have booked the case as unnatural death.
