As family sleeps, Ponda house looted

Ponda: Some unidentified thieves targeted the house of Wasin Sanklipur at Prabhunagar, Ponda, during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday and decamped with booty of Rs 1.2 lakh.

According to police sources, the thieves entered the house between midnight and morning when it was raining heavily. They broke open cupboards inside the house and stole three gold rings worth Rs 1 lakh and Rs 15,000 in cash.

The house owner told the police that the family was asleep and had no any idea about the incident. They could not hear any noises as it was raining heavily. They realised that thieves had broken in only in the morning.

Police said the thieves entered the house by breaking the latch of the back door. The police had summoned the services of the sniffer dog squad and fingerprints experts.

An offence of housebreaking and theft has been registered against unidentified accused at the Ponda police station under sections 305, 331(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita 2023.
