'Allow headmaster to work till inquiry is over'
PANAJI: Rallying behind Abdul Aziz Mulla, headmaster of the Anjuman Nurul Islam High School- Panaji, the All Goa Secondary School Teachers' Association (AGSSTA) has appealed to state education minister Atanasio 'Babush' Monserrate to allow Mulla to resume duty and serve as headmaster until the ongoing inquiry involving him is complete.
It may be recalled that the headmaster was suspended in a case of corporal punishment last month.

President of the AGSSTA Vithoba Dessai said, "We met the education director, who said that the state directorate of education has not found any evidence based on which the headmaster should stay suspended. Since the suspension order of the school management has not been endorsed by the directorate, the headmaster should be allowed to go back to work until the inquiry against him is complete."
The AGSSTA president said that he also met with the education minister, briefed him on the developments and appealed in Mulla's favour. "Let the investigation take its course. If he is proved guilty, he can be suspended or dismissed. As of now, it is illegal to disallow him from working," he said.
It may be recalled that Mulla was suspended by the school management last month after a student alleged that the headmaster had slapped him. The student's parents complained to the directorate of education and also reported the incident to the police. Investigation in the matter is presently on.
