PANAJI: Festival director of Iffi Chaitanya Prasad was on cloud nine over 50 films being showcased by women filmmakers at the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) this year.
Comparing Iffi to Cannes, Prasad said that even the latter could not boast of such an impressive line-up.

“For us, 50 women filmmakers’ 50 films being screened at the 50th edition of Iffi is a huge tagline. It suits us very well and we are proud of it,” Prasad told TOI.
“We are told that no festival has had so many women filmmakers’ films being screened, that’s how huge the line-up is,” he said.
Prasad said that the feature went on to show women power in action at the golden jubilee edition of Iffi.
He added that filmmaking required creativity, and that women always had the necessary skill set to take the process forward.
“Artistic skills are not limited to a certain few, but seeing so many women filmmakers at Iffi is unbelievable,” Prasad said.
Some of the noteworthy films at the festival this year are ‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire’ directed by Celine Sciamma, based on the life of a gifted painter Marianne.
On the other hand, ‘37 Seconds’ directed by Hikari, revolves around the life of a young Japanese woman who juggles between her dreams and obligations towards her family.
