21- Bindiya Bhartiya Janata Party reacts to congress

PANAJI: In a counter attack, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said Congress State President Luzinho Faleiro did not dare to criticize Mauvin Godinho while he remained a Congress MLA. Faleiro didn’t have courage to throw out former Dabolim MLA even when he criticized the Congress Party and praised BJP. The reason Faleiro kept mum because Mauvin would have exposed his scams, told Vinay Tendulkar to a press conference on Wednesday.

Commenting on Godinho’s quitting of the Congress Party, Faleiro had said that Congress Party was thankful to BJP for taking its garbage.

“The BJP strongly condemn the statement of the Congress President,” said Tendulkar adding Faleiro’s rant against BJP is because he is dreaming of becoming a chief minister. “Can person who can’t even manage his own party, can lead the state?” said Tendulkar.

Taking pot shots at Faleiro, Tendulkar said Faleiro has no existence in Goa since he was banished in 2007.

Referring to AAP’s public meeting of Cuncoliem last week when it declared

former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes

as its presidential candidate, BJP president said it was a flop show of the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Currently, the BJP is under attack from Bahujan samaj with courts given jurisdiction for hearing. The bahujan samaj wants mamlatdars be given jurisdiction to hear cases of tenancy. Responding to a question Tendulkar said party has already requested government to hand over the jurisdiction to mamlatdars.

On BJP-MGP alliance, Tendulkar said the alliance chapter has not been closed yet.

Box:

The BJP state President Vinay Tendulkar said there may be a few more MLAs likely join BJP in days to come but declined to name who is/are next in line to join their party. While Mauvin Godinho has joined the BJP camp, the next in line is another Congress MLA, Pandurang Madkaikar.

The BJP President rubbished the reports of disturbance among

BJP workers

over proposed entry of Madkaikar into BJP. Defence minister Manohar Parrikar along with office bearers had a meeting with BJP workers in Kkumbharjua, said Tendulkar.
