Youth held for raping 14-yr-old cousin in March

Ghaziabad: A 21-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping his 14-year-old cousin in Sahibabad earlier in March this year.
According to police, on July 11, a 14-year-old girl was admitted to a private hospital in the Sahibabad area complaining of a stomach ache. However, she was later found to be in labour. “During treatment, she went to the washroom and delivered a fetus, which was dead,” said ACP (Sahibabad) Rajneesh Upadhyay. Hospital staff then informed the police and, on July 13, police registered a case under sections of rape and the Pocso Act, he said.
“With the help of surveillance and manual inputs, we arrested the accused from Shani Mandir Chowk in Sahibabad,” he said.
The accused said the girl’s father is his maternal uncle. He had stayed at his uncle’s house in March while he was visiting Ghaziabad for a wedding. “During that time, he raped her on the pretext of playing some games,” an officer said.
