The second motorist was identified as Mayank Tyagi (25), a resident of Muradnagar. Tyagi is reportedly out of danger, police said.
ADCP (Traffic) Piyush Singh said that cops received information about the incident around 10pm on Monday. Both men were injured in the accident and brought to a nearby hospital, where Chaudhary was declared dead on arrival.
“Initial investigation revealed that Chaudhary was not wearing a helmet, while the injured person had worn a helmet. Chaudhary was on his bike heading from Mohan Nagar to Vaishali when he lost control on the Sahibabad flyover and collided with another bike. Both bikes fell to the ground, and the riders didn't have a chance to move before being hit by the speeding private mini bus. Chaudhary ended up under the bus and succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the bus driver fled from the spot after leaving the bus,” the ADCP said.
According to the officer, Chaudhary worked in Ahmedabad and had returned home on Aug 15 for the Raksha Bandhan festival. He was supposed to return in a few days.
A senior police officer said that Chaudhary’s family members have not filed a complaint in the case yet as they have been busy with his last rites. Teams have been formed to arrest the accused and cops are also checking the CCTV footage, the officer added.
