Ghaziabad: A 55-year-old man was allegedly stabbed over 20 times by a family friend of 15 years at his home in Akbarpur Behrampur colony, Crossings Republik, on Friday. Shyam Dutt succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a Noida hospital on Saturday, according to police officials.
Based on the complaint lodged by Monika, the deceased's daughter, an FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder) has been registered at Crossing Republik police station.
Cops are yet to find out the motive behind the
murder.
Police said that the three suspects — Sagar, his wife Shivani, and his sister Anu — are on the run.
Monika, who lives in Delhi with her husband, told the police that Sagar used to visit the deceased’s house regularly.
On Friday, Sagar had come over with Shivani and Anu, bringing tea and some snacks prepared by Sagar’s mother to meet the Dutts.
“After finishing a cup of tea, Shivani inquired about rental houses in the area. She then took my mother out on the pretext of seeing rental accommodations in the locality, while Sagar and his sister stayed back with my father,” Monika said in her complaint.
She further added that after 15 minutes, when her mother returned with Shivani, she found her dad in a pool of blood with multiple knife injuries.
“The three immediately fled the crime scene when my mother raised her voice. She then took my father to a nearby hospital for medical attention with the help of neighbours, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” said Monika.
Monika also alleged in her complaint that the accused robbed Rs 60,000 before fleeing the crime scene.
Poonam Mishra, ACP of Wave City, said that police have formed four teams to track down the accused, who are currently absconding.
“Their phones are switched off. Police are checking CCTV footage and trying to trace them through surveillance,” she said.
Mishra added that they are also verifying the allegation of the robbery, which was not mentioned in the initial complaint.
