Man loses ₹62L to online games, steals to pay debts
Ghaziabad: Two people, including a goldsmith, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing valuables from houses.
One of the accused, Mohram Ali (31), had lost Rs 62 lakh playing online games and had lost Rs 62 lakh playing online games and took loans from different people to pay it off. To pay off his debtors, Ali started stealing and sold the goods to one Sheikh Sharif (48).
According to DCP (City) Kunwar Gyananjay Singh, Ali would play games on Aviator, a mobile application that works as an online casino, for the last six months.

He had lost around Rs 62 lakh on the game.
“Ali told police that he used the stolen goods and money to gamble further on Aviator. When he lost, he would steal again,” he said.
Police recovered a stolen scooter, mobile phone, two number plates, Rs 5.05 lakh in cash, stolen gold and silver jewelry, and tools used in the crimes from the accused’s possession. “Ali has six cases registered against him in Amroha and one in Delhi. He has been to jail five times before. He sold the stolen goods to jeweller Sheikh Sharif,” DCP Singh added.
The two accused have been booked under sections 303 (2) (theft) and 317(2) (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of BNS in Sihani Gate police station.
