GHAZIABAD: A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl in Loni. The accused, Mustaq, a resident of Loni, worked as a labourer.
According to the complaint filed by the girl’s father, the family had gone out to eat a bhandara in a nearby area on Saturday, around 3 pm, where Mustaq was also present.
Finding the girl unattended for a while, Mustaq allegedly lured her to a forest, under the pretext of buying something for her.
When her parents couldn’t find her, they began searching and eventually reached a deserted area. There, they saw Mustaq molesting the girl.
The complainant alleged that upon seeing the girl’s parents, Mustaq started threatening to kill them and later fled from the spot. The girl later told her parents that he had touched her inappropriately and had assaulted her.
Siddharth Gautam, ACP of Loni, said that based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused under Section 75 (1) (i) (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 351 (3) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of BNS and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
The accused was arrested on Saturday night in Loni.
“Based on the girl’s statement in front of the magistrate and the medical report, we have added the section of rape in the FIR,” ACP said.
In a separate case, on March 16, a four-year-old girl was brutally raped and murdered by a 24-year-old man in the Nandgram area. The girl’s body was found 500 metres away from her house.
The accused allegedly lured the minor on the pretext of purchasing chocolate and took her to an isolated place where he raped her and later smashed her head with a heavy object. Later, he dumped the body in the bushes.
According to police, the accused, Gaurav Prajapati, a resident of Nandgram, worked as a labourer in a factory. He was arrested following a gunfight in which he sustained two bullet wounds on both legs.
