Decomposed body of woman living alone found in her flat

Ghaziabad: A 51-year-old woman’s decomposed body was found on Thursday at her house in Aditya World City Society in Wave City. The body has been sent for an autopsy and reports are awaited, said a police officer on Friday.
The deceased, Chandana Das, was a widow who had been living alone for the last three months after her daughter got married.
Her daughter, who lives with her in-laws in Delhi’s Dwarka, last spoke to Das on Monday morning.
“She claimed to have tried getting in touch with her on Tuesday too. When the deceased did not respond until Thursday, even after her 20-odd calls, she asked the neighbours to check on Das,” said Poonam Mishra, ACP of Wave City police station.
The neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from Das’s place and informed the cops on Thursday.
“A team of police immediately rushed to the spot and forcefully opened the flat. They found the deceased lying on a bed. Prima facie, the body appears to be three to four days old, but no injury marks have been found on the body,” said ACP Mishra.
Mishra added that they are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the cause of Das’s death.
“The daughter told us that her mother was not keeping well. So, she was under the impression that her mother was sleeping after taking medicine when she did not take calls,” said Mishra.
Police said they have yet to receive any complaints in the matter.
