2 held for abduction & murder of friend, 2 others on the run

Ghaziabad: Two persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing their friend, whose body was found in a drain in Modinagar on May 15. According to police, the accused, Taj Mohmmad (20), is from Muzaffarnagar and Punit Gosai (20) is from Ghaziabad. Two other accused are absconding. Their friend, Dean Mohammad was from Meerut, UP. A day after he was killed, on May 16, his brother filed a complaint at the Modinagar police station.“When the police contacted Dean’s family about their suspicions about his death, the family informed them about his rivalry with Nikit Gujjar (22) and his brother, Bittu Gujjar (20). Subsequently, the police started to trace them, but the two are on the run,” said DCP (Rural) Vivek Yadav. “During the investigation, the police found that Nikit, Bittu, Taj and Punit are friends. A couple of days before Dean was killed, he got into a fight with the Gujjar brothers. During the fight, Dean had brutally vandalised their car. Later, cops learnt that a day before the incident, Dean was last seen with Taj by locals. This interested the police to start looking for Gujjar’s friends as well,” Yadav added.“Taj and Punit confessed their crime and revealed that after the spat, Nikit was raging to take revenge on Dean and he devised a plan to abduct him. He gathered and involved his friends to become his accomplices. On May 14, they tricked Dean for a drive. They took him to an isolated place where they hit him till he died and left his body in the drain,” Yadav said.“The accused were booked under IPC sections 302 (punishment for murder), 201(causing disappearance of evidence of the offence or giving false information to screen offender), 364 (kidnapping or abducting to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy),” Yadav addedThe DCP further said the accused were sent to jail after producing them in court. Meanwhile, two teams are looking for the Gujjar brothers.
