Based on one such tip, we conducted a surprise raid at the Dhamu Chettiar Nagai Maaligai at Kacherimedu in Gobichettipalayam and found the jewellery outlet was letting customers in through alternative passages, while keeping its main door closed to deceive the officials,” an official source told TOI.
When the officials entered the showroom, there were more than 150 customers, who were not even wearing face masks. “We immediately sent the customers away and sealed the showroom. We also have warned to seal other showrooms if they attempt to remain open in violation of the orders,” the source said.
