UDHAGAMANDALAM: Within two days of a murder that took place near Kattabettu in the Nilgiris, police secured the accused involved in the case in

Erode district

on Tuesday.

Logeshwari, 26, was found dead in a pool of blood inside her home at Ambedkar Colony near Kattabettu on Sunday late night. Her son Karthikeyan, 4, was also found lying unconscious near her body.

The

Kotagiri

police broke open the door of the house and found Logeshwari's body with cut injuries in neck. Karthikeyan was rushed to the

Coimbatore Medical College

Hospital.

Nilgiris SP D Shanmuga Priya said the accused had used a knife to murder Logeshwari.

Priya said, "Logeshwari's husband is working in Saudi Arabia for the past eight months. In the meantime, she developed an illegal relationship with Gowrishankar, 27, a factory worker in Uthukuli in Erode district."

On October 27, Logeshwari had invited Gowrishankar for dinner. While having dinner, a quarrel erupted between them. Karthikeya bit Gowrishankar's hand when he started hitting Logeshwari. He in turn attacked the boy with a knife and murdered Logeshwari, according to the SP.

Gowrishankar escaped from the scene taking away a gold chain and the mobile phone of Logeshwari. "On Tuesday, we secured him in Uthukuli and the stolen valuables were confiscated. The accused will be remanded in judicial custody after inquiry," said Priya.
