NEW DELHI: The woman who killed her 4-year-old son and her lover's wife in Moti Nagar, west Delhi, was arrested on Tuesday after she recovered from the stab injuries sustained in a bid to commit suicide. The accused, Sudesh (40), had confessed to the crime, saying she wanted to take revenge on her alleged lover, Manoj Taneja, who is also a neighbour, for denying their relationship and avoiding her for the past one and a half months.
Investigators said she attacked her children and then killed her lover's wife, Reena, before stabbing herself. Senior cops added that Sudesh had been fighting with Reena over phone for nearly a week. Reena had suspected her husband of having a relationship with Sudesh, which apparently led to tensions between the two families.
Police said Sudesh claimed to be urging Manoj to end his marriage for the past three years but things turned ugly when he started avoiding her a few months ago. She has been charged with
murder under Section 302 of the IPC on the basis of a confession.
Sudesh's husband, Anil Sharma, had denied any knowledge of the affair. Police had found a note by Sudesh, holding Manoj responsible for the deaths. According to Sudesh's statement, she felt betrayed by Manoj and wanted to avenge herself. On October 17, Sudesh stabbed 4-year-old Arabh and 15-year-old Komal, also her child. She then called Reena to her house and slashed her throat following a scuffle. Her other daughter, Nanu (12), was spared since she was in school, police said. "The woman has been arrested. We are probing her statement," said Ranvir Singh, DCP, west district.
