Shahid agreed to the plan of Ash Mohammad, Allauddin, Ashiq Ali and Shafiq to kidnap Alam after the four promised him a share of the ransom.’’
On Friday, Alim approached the police and complained about his son’s kidnapping when the boy went missing from Wednesday evening. According to Alim, the kidnapper had called him and demanded for money.
‘‘The caller threatened to kill Alam if the money was not delivered,’’ Hassan said. The same person reportedly called Alim on Thursday and Alim told him he could arrange only Rs two lakh. But at the caller’s insistence, he agreed to pay Rs five lakh in exchange of his son.
‘‘After deciding to pay the money, Alim reported the matter to the police. A police team was formed and was sent with him to a police picket on GT Road, Brij Ghat (Uttar Pradesh), where the kidnappers had to meet Alim,’’ Hassan said.
On reaching the picket, the police team spotted two persons on a motorcycle. The complainant identified Alauddin who was nabbed by the police. During the course of his interrogation, Alauddin disclosed the name of other accused.
