NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of Delhi Police caught two criminals after separate encounters at Bhalswa Dairy and Rajghat late on Monday evening.

In the first incident, a history-sheeter from northeast Delhi, Imran, was caught near Raj Ghat. At around 8pm a police team spotted Imran near the bus depot and signalled him to stop. However, instead of stopping his bike, Imran opened fire at the police team. When the cops retaliated, he tried to get off his bike and flee but was caught. A bullet had hit him on the leg.

In the second incident, another criminal, Pratham Anand, was shot-at when he tried to fire at police and flee near Bhalswa Dairy. DCP (Special Cell) P S Kushwah said that more than six-seven rounds were fired during the encounter.

As a police team, led by inspector Shiv Kumar, intercepted Anand near the Bhalswa landfill, he took out a pistol and fired at the cops. The bullet hit a policeman, but he was saved by his bulletproof vest. Following this, the cops opened fire during which a bullet hit Anand in his leg.

Police said that Anand and his gang members had barged into a house in Majlis Park and opened fire at a man, during which he was severely injured. Anand was a history-sheeter in west Delhi.
