(Train No.12431) derailed on Thursday morning after it was hit by a truck at a level crossing between Meghnagar and Thandla rail section of Ratlam division.



The truck driver died in the incident which took place at around 06.44am.

Railway officials said that the truck broke the level crossing gate, no.61, between Meghnagar and Thandla rail section and dashed the two coaches, B7 and B8, of the train.

"A total of 48 passengers were in these two coaches. However, none of them has been injured," said a Ratlam division's spokesman of the Western Railways.

An accident relief train along with officials and medical team has already reached the spot and the rescue operation is underway.

Train movement on the track has also been suspended. Two trains including Vadodara-Kota passenger train and Ratlam-Dahod menu train have been cancelled due to the incident.

The railways has also released a list of emergency helpline numbers for assistance of relatives of those travelling in the train.
