Trader gets son's friend killed to avenge 'murder'

NEW DELHI: In what appears to be a perfect plot for a crime thriller, a trader, enraged by his son's death in a mysterious accident, hired contract killers to bump off his son's friend whom he suspected to be behind the "murder". The friend was gunned down in June this year and the killers had been at large. However, the murky plot was unveiled after cops arrested the shooters and the father for the murder.

Special commissioner of police, S N Shrivastava said that a team led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav arrested a hardened criminal, Vicky Ranga, for the murder. His aide, Sri Om, was nabbed by the team of special staff of southwest district comprising inspector Ramesh Kumar and SI Naveen. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been declared for their arrest.
The father, Hariram Yadav and his aide Chandra Shekhar were also arrested a few days ago, police said. Cops still claim Hariram's son's death was an accident.
The story started last year when two young businessmen, Abhinaw Kumar and Vinod Yadav, met with an accident allegedly after their bike spun out of control. While Vinod died at the spot, his friend survived. Even as police treated the case as an accident, Hariram Yadav accused Abhinaw of having killed Vinod.
Months passed but Hariram did not see any hope from the cops who saw no weight in the murder theory. Finally, Hariram decided to avenge his son's death. He roped in his friend Chandra Shekhar and asked him to arrange for two shooters.

"During interrogation, Vicky told cops that he had gone to meet his sister in Najafgarh when his friend introduced him to Chandra Shekhar who was looking for hired killers to eliminate Abhinaw. When he proposed a 'supari' of Rs 10 lakh to Vicky, he readily agreed and roped in his friend Sri Om to carry out the crime," Shrivastava said.
The shooters arranged weapons from their criminal friends and charted the movement of the target, Abhinaw, who had a business of car accessories in partnership with his brother Avinash. On June 12, Vicky entered their outlet in Dwarka and shot Abhinaw at pointblank range. His aide Om was waiting outside on a bike with its engine running. They fled with ease even as Abhinaw's brother witnessed the murder helplessly.
