New Delhi: Three members of an inter-state vehicle theft and fraud gang were arrested, with police recovering 16 stolen vehicles.
The arrests were made by
Delhi Police crime branch following an investigation that began with the theft of a car from Pitampura in Aug last year.

During the probe, investigators received specific information that a receiver of stolen vehicles was operating from Jalandhar in Punjab and was in possession of several vehicles stolen from Delhi. Acting on the tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in Jalandhar on Dec 25 and apprehended a 42-year-old man, Damandeep Singh who was running a second-hand vehicle business. Four stolen vehicles were recovered from his premises.
Subsequently, two more accused were arrested, including Arvind Sharma (38), who allegedly prepared forged vehicle documents and Amandeep Singh(39) who acted as a link between buyers and sellers. According to their information, additional stolen vehicles were recovered, taking the total number to 16.
