NEW DELHI: A teenager was apprehended and his two associates arrested by the Crime Branch for two murders over a week. The arrested men are Rizwan, a history-sheeter of Krishna Nagar, and Mohsin, a resident of Ghaziabad. The accused teenager was produced before the juvenile justice board and sent to a reform home.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Joy Tirkey said ASI Jagdish of the interstate cell got information that the killers would be coming to Patparganj in east Delhi to meet an associate.
“A team led by ACP Jasbir Singh and inspector V N Jha nabbed them. Two pistols, seven cartridges, a bike and a scooter was seized from them,” he added. The trio confessed to their involvement in the murders committed on March 31 and April 4.
The first murder took place in Usmanpur of northeast Delhi in which a man named Haqimuddin was gunned down in front of his son. The accused suspected that the man was involved in an attack on their associates a few months ago. The teenager and his aide went to his house on March 31 and shot him multiple times.
Haqimuddin, a bus driver, was the sole breadwinner of his family. He had moved to the rented house with his wife and five-year-old son three months ago.
Later that week, the accused recced the route taken by their rival, Sarfaraz. They intercepted him near Kanti Nagar while he was on his way home and opened indiscriminate fire killing him on the spot. The incident had led to panic in the area. Police are trying to locate other members of the gang.
