A similar incident occurred in Delhi's Shahdara last month.
Man arrested for firing at car in ShahdaraA birthday celebration took a drastic turn in Shahdara when a man ended up in jail for firing multiple rounds at a car. The intended targets, Diwakar and Mukul, narrowly escaped the attack while drinking tea at a roadside stall.
Diwakar (28), a resident of Shahdara, told police that he and Mukul had stopped for tea after purchasing flowers from the Ghazipur Phool Mandi when four men in a car confronted them.
The group initiated an argument and damaged Diwakar’s car mirror. When Diwakar and Mukul demanded compensation, one of the men, intoxicated and armed, fired two to three rounds into the ground before aiming at the car’s bonnet. Mukul quickly drove away, while Diwakar ran to the Anand Vihar police station to seek help.
A case was registered, and DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Priya Gautam assigned a team to investigate.
CCTV footage confirmed the involvement of four suspects. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested two of them, identified as Suhel Khan and Ankit, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining culprits.
