Sanitation not better despite huge rise in spend, says AAP

New Delhi: In spite of spending

four times

the

amount

spent on

garbage collection

till last year, there has been

no improvement

in the

sanitation services

, claimed AAP member and leader of opposition in East Delhi Municipal Corporation Manoj Tyagi on Thursday.

Tyagi claimed that till last year, EDMC was

spending

Rs 70 crore annually on lifting garbage from roadsides. However, he claimed a new concessionaire had been booked for Rs 280 crore, but the trash in EDMC areas was still not being lifted.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the LoPs were pressuring EDMC into paying commissions, and the company concerned was collecting an average 2,000 metric tonnes of garbage every day from the EDMC areas.
