NEW DELHI: Though there is no mention of any specific pay scale in Delhi University's "earn while they learn" proposal, the remuneration is expected to be "adequate" for students to sponsor their stay and study in the university.
"The remuneration will be at par with market standards, and students will be paid on the basis of the number of hours they put in per day.

Say, if a research scholar is paid Rs 8,000-12,000 as per the UGC standards, a similar payment will be made to the research assistants who work on part-time basis," Chaddha added.
The plan is awaiting vice-chancellor Deepak Pental's approval since August this year. "It's a good idea to provide part-time employment opportunities while students are studying in the university but we need to work out the modalities of implementing it in our set-up," said Pental.
