NEW DELHI: Revenue minister Kailash Gahlot on Monday visited the family of a former DTC bus driver, Lal Singh, who had died due to Covid-19 and handed over the cheque of Rs. one crore as Samman Rashi.

Singh was deployed on Covid duty and developed symptoms during the first wave in June 2020. He succumbed to Covid-19 on June 18, 2020. Singh had joined DTC as a cleaner in 1984 and got promoted to the post of a driver in 2002. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Gahlot said, "I acknowledge that no amount of money can compensate for the loss of a loved one, but this 'Samman Rashi' is a way for the Delhi government to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the Corona warriors."
