Report card, new projects to mark BJP’s one year in office
New Delhi: Coinciding with the first anniversary of BJP's victory in the Feb 2025 assembly elections that let the party form govt in the city after 27 years, chief minister Rekha Gupta will hold a series of public events for more than two weeks from Feb 8.The celebrations are expected to begin with the flagging off of around 500 electric buses at a mega event planned at Ramlila Maidan, which will be showcased as part of Delhi govt's focus on clean mobility and strengthening public transport.
An official said govt was likely to launch Pink Saheli Smart Cards, which would replace paper tickets for women's free travel on public buses, and introduce national common mobility cards for payment across public transport platforms. "CM may also felicitate some free Holi LPG cylinder beneficiaries, who are expected to get the direct benefit transfer from this month," said an official.During the two-week programme, govt will issue a report card to showcase its works, besides holding ceremonial events and conducting grassroots outreach, said officials. The report card, likely to be released on Feb 20, will highlight major initiatives across sectors such as transport, urban infrastructure, health, education, power and water supply, and municipal services.Among the key achievements expected to feature in it are over 383 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs being operationalised to reduce the burden on major hospitals. The implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana also led to the issuance of more than 6.7 lakh Ayushman health cards, including 2.6 lakh Vay Vandana cards for senior citizens aged 70 and above. The rollout of DEVI electric buses will be highlighted as a key green move. Other initiatives include the opening of Atal Canteens offering meals at Rs 5 per plate, a Rs 1,000-crore allocation to Delhi Village Development Board, continuation of free water and electricity, and approval of free LPG cylinders for poor households on Holi and Diwali. Besides stepping up funding for cleaning the Yamuna, Delhi Drainage Master Plan 2025, with an outlay of Rs 57,362 crore, has been unveiled to revamp the city's 50-year-old drainage system and a 2026 deadline has been set to completely eliminate landfill sites.Govt has renovated 150km roads across the city and planned the launch of 75 CM SHRI Schools equipped with modern laboratories, smart classrooms and libraries, modelled on the national PM SHRI initiative. Officials said govt planned to hold back-to-back inauguration and launch ceremonies at the assembly constituency level. "The idea is to open completed projects for public use while simultaneously launching major works across the city," an official said. The report card is expected to be released at a public event, similar to the programme organised when BJP govt completed 100 days in office. Union home minister Amit Shah and several other Union ministers are likely to attend a few events, officials said. Gupta took oath as chief minister on Feb 20 after BJP had secured 48 seats in the 70-member assembly.
