One Year Of Govt Marked Shift From Announcements To Outcomes: CM
New Delhi: As BJP govt completed one year in office on Friday, chief minister Rekha Gupta presented a report card of its performance, describing the past 365 days as a shift from "announcements to outcomes" and "posters to performance".The report card, ‘Pehla Kadam Badlav Ka, Ek Saal Vikas Ka', was unveiled by the CM and her cabinet ministers at the secretariat. It outlined initiatives in the spheres of health, education, infrastructure, pollution control and welfare.
"Over the past 27 years, Delhi's infrastructure deteriorated and systems weakened, leaving the city stagnant and tired. With your (voters') decisive mandate, we set clear priorities from day one, fixed accountability and launched mission-mode efforts to transform the capital," Gupta said."In just one year, new facilities have been added to citizens' daily lives. Delhi is visibly changing with a clear development roadmap in place. Just as the nation progressed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Delhi aligned itself with that path of growth. This one-year report card belongs to the people. Your trust is our strength, and with public participation, we will move firmly towards our goal — Developed Delhi @2047," she added.Gupta and six ministers took the oath on Feb 20, 2025, days after BJP defeated AAP and returned to office after a gap of 27 years; Congress was at the helm for 15 of those years.Taking a dig at the previous AAP govt, the CM said, "The ‘tweet-and-delay' politics has ended; work now moves on strict timelines… Delhi is no longer the capital of blame games, but the capital of accountability."She added, "Under earlier govts, Delhi witnessed more noise and fewer solutions. Politics of allegations, delays and confrontation slowed administrative progress. By contrast, the present govt has adopted a timeline-based working model, placing accountability at the forefront."Within one year, the direction of governance has changed, and in the coming years, the national capital will witness comprehensive transformation, the CM said.Infrastructure Overhaul & Welfare Initiatives Gupta described infrastructure expansion as one of the key focus areas of her govt. "Seventy-two chronic waterlogging points have been identified for permanent solutions," she said. Work is underway on major drains on Rohtak Road, Najafgarh-Nangloi and Kirari stretches. Forty-footy foot overbridges have been planned, and beautification work is ongoing at 47 key junctions.Highlighting welfare initiatives, Gupta said her govt has prioritised antyodaya — or uplift of the poorest — from its first cabinet meeting."To address food security, govt expanded Atal Canteens across the city. For slum rehabilitation, Rs 700 crore was allocated for infrastructure works," she said. Around 13,000 flats in areas like Savda Ghevra, Bhalswa, Dwarka and Sultanpuri are being readied for allotment in the first phase. Delhi now offers a minimum wage of Rs 22,411 per month, which she said is the highest in the country.Water & Sewerage WorkCalling these two key priorities for her govt, Gupta said work is being expedited at Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant, aimed at addressing supply issues in several assembly constituencies. Plans have been initiated for new treatment plants in Chhatarpur, Iradat Nagar and Najafgarh. Under Delhi Jal Board's water amnesty scheme, consumers have settled pending bills, generating revenue while waiving penalties, she said.Healthcare Expansion The CM showcased the expansion of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and upgrades in hospital infrastructure. At G B Pant Hospital, new CT scanners, a neuro ICU and an integrated operation theatre complex have been added. There are now new dialysis machines, ambulances and mobile dental vans across Delhi. A State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation has been launched, and new healthcare posts have been sanctioned. Gupta noted the rollout of Health Information Management System to digitise patient records and enable online OPD bookings linked with ABHA IDs.Education & SportsGovt has enacted the Fee Regulation Act to address arbitrary fee hikes in private schools, the CM said. Work on smart classrooms is underway. CM Shri Schools are being upgraded with digital infrastructure. New curriculum components, including ‘Neev', ‘Science of Living' and ‘Rashtraneeti', have been introduced to promote life skills and civic awareness alongside academics.Delhi Sports Mahakumbh has been attracting many participants, Gupta said, adding that Olympic gold medallists will receive enhanced incentives under the revised Delhi govt sports scheme.Yamuna Revival & Waste ManagementEnhancement in sewage treatment capacity and upgrades in plants are underway in order to rejuvenate the Yamuna, Gupta said. Silt has been removed from drains and biomining capacity for solid waste raised. A waste-to-energy plant is under construction at Narela-Bawana, while existing facilities at Okhla and Tehkhand are being expanded.
