NEW DELHI: NIA carried out searches at nine locations across Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday whilst investigating the gangster-terror nexus case.

The operation commenced early Wednesday morning, covering eight sites in Punjab and one in Haryana, based on intelligence about suspects connected to the case.

The operations target individuals and networks believed to be supporting criminal activities connected to terrorist groups. These actions are part of the agency's enhanced measures to address the increasing collaboration between gangsters and terror organisations in the region.

In the previous month, the agency executed extensive searches at nine locations across Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, focusing on associates of the Davinder Bambiha syndicate.

The NIA teams conducted thorough searches at locations in Haryana's Palwal, Faridabad and Gurugram districts, Punjab's Jalandhar district, and Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district.

During these operations, the agency collected significant evidence, including mobile phones, digital devices, banking records and property documentation.

These operations form part of NIA's sustained effort to combat terror organisations involved in illegal activities, including the smuggling of arms, ammunition, narcotics and explosives into India.

According to NIA investigations, initiated under Ministry of Home Affairs directives, these organisations and terrorists are making substantial efforts to generate funds for executing terrorist activities within India.
