India’s longest urban tunnel
The 3.6-km, 8-lane tunnel connecting Dwarka Expressway to IGI Airport is India’s longest and widest urban road tunnel.
Voice-guided entry system
Drivers entering the tunnel are greeted with a voice announcement: “Welcome to the tunnel. Drive safe.”
Trial runs begin
NHAI began trial runs on May 30, allowing vehicles to use the tunnel from 12 pm to 3 pm daily.
Strategic connectivity boost
The tunnel provides faster access between Gurgaon, Dwarka, Vasant Kunj, and IGI Airport.
Vibrant murals inside
The tunnel walls feature colourful murals of Indian states, the Parliament, and historic icons like Mahatma Gandhi.
Speed limit set at 80 kmph
Four-wheelers can drive through the tunnel at up to 80 kmph on the smooth, modern roadway.
Security & safety measures
Equipped with CCTV, emergency exits, a control room, and a blast-proof 500m section for high-level safety.
Reduces NH-48 traffic load
Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway users will see reduced congestion as traffic diverts through this alternative
