Delhi Police rejig: 24 IPS, 14 DANIPS officers shifted

In a significant reshuffle within the Delhi Police, 38 officers have been transferred and assigned new roles across various districts, units, and ranges. The changes include new DCPs for key units like the special cell and crime branch, as well as districts such as Central, Southwest, and Rohini.

NEW DELHI: In a major reshuffle, 38 officers, including 24 IPS and 14 DANIPS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service) officers of Delhi Police, were transferred and assigned new roles across districts, units and ranges on Wednesday. Units like the special cell and crime branch received new DCPs, as did districts like Central, Southwest, Rohini, Southeast and Outer North. DCPs in the central cyber cell, traffic and Metro units were also changed.

Hemant Tiwari, a 2014-batch IPS officer, will head the Southeast district, which includes areas like New Friends Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Jamia Nagar and Shaheen Bagh. Amit Goel from the same batch will now head the Southwest district, covering areas like Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Safdarjung Enclave and RK Puram. Nidhin Valsan (2012 batch) has been posted as DCP of the Central district, which includes areas like Karol Bagh, Jama Masjid, Daryaganj and Rajendra Nagar. V Hareshwar Swami of the 2013 batch has been posted to the Outer North district while Rajeev Ranjan of the 2012 batch has been named DCP Rohini. Sanjeev Yadav, a 2013-batch IPS officer, has been posted as DCP (crime branch) following his transfer from J&K to the national capital.
The home ministry is focused on eradicating the gangster-terror nexus and the organised crime modules in the city. Aalap Patel has been posted as a DCP in the anti-terror unit (special cell), which is set for a major overhaul in the coming months. The unit is likely to be downsized and renamed Delhi ATS (anti-terror squad). It will also get a new chief of unit of the rank of special commissioner within two months and will be tasked to refocus on anti-terror operations.Vijay Kumar, a 2007-batch officer, has been made joint CP (Eastern Range) and given the charge of the central cyber cell, called the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Ops (IFSO) unit. Ravi Kumar Singh has been moved from the Southeast district to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) as DCP. Kushal Pal Singh (2014 batch), earlier with traffic, will now serve as DCP Metro while Subodh Kumar Goswami and Nishant Gupta have been posted as DCPs in the traffic unit. David Lalringsanga (1995 batch) has been named Special CP for units dedicated to women, children, and the Northeast region. Dheeraj Kumar (2004) will serve as director (joint CP) of Delhi Police Academy while Raj Kumar Singh (2004) has been appointed joint CP (provisioning and logistics). Hukma Ram Sai (2011) has been shifted from DCP Traffic to Additional DCP, New Delhi. Sumit Kumar Jha, a 2017-batch officer, has been made additional DCP in the South district. Anant Mittal, Rohit Rajbir Singh and Sandeep Gupta — all 2015-batch officers — will serve as additional DCPs in North, Dwarka and Rohini districts, respectively. Achin Garg (2019) has been transferred from Additional DCP South to Deputy GM, DPHC. Additional CP Pratiksha Godara (2011 batch) has been shifted from the special cell to Delhi Police Housing Corporation Limited (DPHCL).
