NEW DELHI: Police have been told to test the blood and semen samples of the two men accused of murdering a 21-year-old beautician, A S Reingamphi, from
Manipur, on May 29 in Chirag Dilli. The woman, who was found dead in her rented flat, had sustained serious injuries.
Since her death, the girl's family has been alleging that Reingamphi was brutalized and murdered but the probe doesn't seem to have progressed. The
Delhi high court asked police to shape up and conduct the tests after they presented an incomplete status report on Thursday. The victim's family has accused her landlord and his brother-in-law in its writ petition. Police have not even done basic tests even after semen was detected on the victim's clothes, according to the family.
The forensic test reports confirmed that no poison or drug was traced in victim's viscera.
The investigators had initially concluded that the death was a suicide. Ravindra Yadav, the addl CP (crime), said they will conduct the tests swiftly.
Reingamphi was found dead on her mattress inside her ground-floor flat. Wounds were found on her nose, forehead and toes. Cops concluded that the wounds were caused by the nibbling of rodents on finding bloodstained footprints of rodents around the body. Her brother and friends, however, refused to buy the suicide theory and alleged murder after sexual assault.
