New Delhi: Panic erupted at Jafrabad Metro Station in northeast Delhi on Thursday after a blast-like sound was heard. The scare proved short-lived as authorities traced the source to a kite string caught between two high-voltage metro cables, triggering a brief flare-up. No injuries were reported and normalcy was quickly restored. Around 6 pm, police received information about the sound on the line towards Burari.
CISF personnel and local police rushed to the spot to secure the area and assist passengers. Preliminary findings confirmed the kite string caused a minor spark and fire. Passengers were safely evacuated from the train as a precaution.
