Man arrested for shooting lover’s husband in Jasola
NEW DELHI: Three days after a
The accused, Tauffiq, had met the businessman, Mohammad Rashid, near Jasola to settle the matter. They had a few drinks after which the accused shot him. He had also planned to kill Rashid’s elder brother.
Police found Rashid’s body on February 21 and suspected the incident to be natural death. However, autopsy revealed a bullet injury at the back of his head after which a case of murder was registered.
“A team scanned through CCTV footage of the area and questioned the deceased’s relatives. In one footage, we saw him with Tauffiq. After Tauffiq was interrogated, he admitted to the murder,” said DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal.
Tauffiq told police that he knew Rashid’s wife for the past 15 years and used to call her every day. Around 14 years ago, his marriage was fixed with her, but Rashid’s brother had intervened and stopped the marriage from being solemnised.
A few months ago, an altercation took place between Rashid and Tauffiq during a family function during which Rashid slapped him and accused him of adultery. Tauffiq then decided to kill Rashid. After buying a pistol from Uthawara in Haryana, Tauffiq met Rashid near a liquor shop at the mall. He offered to resolve their differences over drinks. When Rashid got drunk, Tauffiq shot him in the head.
