NEW DELHI: LG
Najeeb Jung has written to central and state universities, urging students to observe 'Earth Hour'. He has also appealed to Delhiites to make the campaign a success by switching off lights from 8.30pm-9.30pm.
"He has urged universities because students can take his message to a wider audience. Government departments usually close in the evening so they cannot participate," said Simi Malhotra, adviser to LG.
Jung urged students to act against climate change by changing their lifestyle. "Plant more trees, avoid plastic bags, and concentrate on three 'R's - reduce, re-use and re-cycle. Climate change is the greatest challenge, it presents us with an opportunity help build a greener tomorrow," he said.
