Delhi Police's statement on today's action on protesting farmers.

Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Yudhvir Singh said, "We had a discussion on 11 points. Government has agreed on seven of our demands. However, on 4 points the government said it will have to hold more meetings as they included financial matters."

After meeting the protesting farmers at the Delhi-UP border here, Union minister of state for agriculture Rajendra Singh Shekhawat said the government was assuring the farmers to take forward their cause.

For the first time since independence, farmers came into the agenda of a govt which is evident from the work done by BJP govt in the past 4.5 years for farmers.

Home minister Rajnath Singh held discussions with Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh and also spoke to chief of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Rakesh Tikait over phone. As the farmers continue to protest, the major considerations for government remain ban on 10-year-old tractors, procurement of crops, loan waiver and equal electricity tariff.
