NEW DELHI: Unidentified bike-borne assailants shot at a jewellery shop owner and his assistant in Pitampura in northwest Delhi and made off with jewellery worth lakhs late on Sunday night. The incident was reported from AP Block in Pitampura in front of 'Baba Jewellers' around 10.15pm. The victims have been identified as Shyam Sunder Garg, the shop owner, and Chittaranjan.
Garg, in his mid 40s, suffered three gun shots and is stated to be critical. Chittaranjan received a gunshot injury on his leg. Both were rushed to Saroj Hospital.
A senior police officer said, "Around 2-3 unidentified assailants came on bikes in a bid to rob the jeweller. They managed to flee after firing four bullets. We are investigating the case. The robbers appeared to have done a recce of the area."
