NEW DELHI: A man was arrested for indiscriminately firing celebratory shots outside a marriage hall on GT Karnal Road on Sunday night. Police said the man was attending the wedding of his friend's daughter and fired from two 12-bore guns.
Rohit Dahiya, a resident of
Haryana, was carrying two rifles and a cache of arms while dancing around a car escorting the groom.
Locals said he fired a few rounds, two of which hit an electricity pole. A PCR was immediately called. A team led by the area SHO rushed to the spot. He was taken to Bharat Nagar police station and arrested under the Arms Act. Police said Dahiya was drunk.
In another incident, a man was injured at wedding party at Karkardooma in east Delhi when his cousin fired a celebratory shot from a licensed pistol. The man, Rajat Sharma, was admitted to a hospital. A case under sections of the arms act has been registered
