"This park was meant to be used to build a pre-primary school. The horticulture department rents out the park for various functions at a cost of Rs 25,000 which has been opposed earlier. Now the South Delhi Municipal
Corporation wants to build the commissioner's bungalow here," said Chetan Sharma, chairman, GK-II RWA.
Sameer Banerjee, general secretary of the Durga Puja committee added that a high court order obtained by the Gurdwara committee says that MCD will not change the user of the plot, except in accordance with the law, which is not being followed here.
Residents have said that they will continue to protest till MCD revokes its decision.
Local MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj suggested that residents submit a referendum to the LG on the issue.

"Construction of a community hall and residential complex will increase the volume of traffic on the stretch traffic pressure on the Savitri and Gurudwara road which is already crowded during the weekend, and we do not want such a construction which wont help us," said Manveen Bhatia, one of the block secretaries.
?MCD spokesperson Mukesh Yadav said, following the bifurcation of the MCD, all residential complexes for officers have gone to the north corporation and the construction of residential complexes have become essential. He added that required clearances were taken before constructions at the park.
