NEW DELHI: An 19-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house in Harsh Vihar, east Delhi. The victim, Shalu Singh, had failed in her second year exams and was caught while cheating during one of her papers, said the police.
The police said they received a call on Thursday morning about the suicide. When they reached the spot, they found the girl hanging from ceiling in a room inside her house.
The room was bolted from inside and no suicide note was found from the spot, said a police officer.
The girl's father, a retired armyman, was sleeping in another room along with his wife and son. "The family told us the girl was studying at a college in Ghaziabad and was depressed for the past few days,'' said a police officer.
