NEW DELHI: A portion of a factory building collapsed after a fire broke out at an industrial unit in the Mayapuri area on Thursday.
Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official informed that they received the call regarding the incident around 11:17 am. DFS then deployed around 18 fire tenders to extinguish the fire.
The building comprises a basement, a ground floor, and two upper floors, news agency PTI reported.
“As the scale of the fire increased, more fire tenders were called to the spot to douse the flames. The fire had engulfed a steel-cutting and packing materials factory operating on the first and second floors of a building spread over nearly 500 square yards,” the officer said.
Fire officials said that during the firefighting operation, portions of the first and second floors collapsed, leaving the structure in a dangerous condition due to damage caused by the blaze and the collapse, PTI reported.
Reportedly, fire was brought under control at around 2:20 pm, and no casualties were reported till the time of filing of the report.
