NEW DELHI: The vice chancellor of Delhi University appointed professor DS Rawat as the chief election officer for the forthcoming DU Students' Union polls on Wednesday. The poll dates are to be announced later this week.

Rawat will be assisted by Rajesh Tandon, the chief returning officer, Pinki Sharma, returning officer, Meena Panicar and Abha Shukla, additional member in the conduct of the elections.
The university also appointed the principals of the colleges and heads of institutions as election officer for the conduct of election of office-bearers and members of the central council of DUSU in their respective colleges and institutions for the year 2016-17.
The National Green Tribunal recently ordered DU to undertake measures for paperless polls after hearing a petition filed by a law student over gross misuse of papers during the campaigning process.
