Drugs worth Rs 4.5 crore seized
New Delhi: Delhi Police crime branch has dismantled an inter-state drug cartel, seizing psychotropic substances worth over Rs 4.5 crore and arresting four accused along with apprehending a juvenile.The operation began on March 17 after intelligence about a drug consignment in northeast Delhi. A team laid a trap and intercepted a motorcycle carrying narcotics. The rider, identified as 20-year-old Nitin Pathak, was arrested along with a juvenile.Police recovered 1.912 kg of Alprazolam tablets and 0.491 kg of Tramadol tablets from them. DCP (ANTF) Rahool Alwal said, “During interrogation, Pathak revealed links to a wider supply network. Acting on these disclosures, police conducted a raid at a medical store in Bhopura, Uttar Pradesh, and arrested Prem Singh Yadav, recovering 1.218 kg of Tramadol capsules.Further investigation led to the arrest of Shalu Kumar from Laxmi Nagar, from whose residence 1.627 kg of Alprazolam tablets were seized. Another accused, Sanjay Singh, was later arrested following additional leads.
