'Dharti se uthwa dunga': Bishnoi gang targets west Delhi gym; shots fired, warning issued
NEW DELHI: Unidentified assailants opened fire at a gym in outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, triggering panic in the area, police said on Tuesday. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang purportedly claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post. According to the post, the gym was targeted after a call made by the gang to the owner went unanswered. Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the post.
After receiving information about the firing at R K Gym, police teams rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Forensic teams were also called in to collect evidence.
“A live cartridge was recovered from the spot. A case has been registered and multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace the assailants,” a senior police officer said.
Commenting on the social media post, the officer said, “We are aware of the post and are looking into it. At this stage, it would be premature to comment on the involvement of any gang.” He added that all possible angles are being examined.
Police said CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being scanned to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the escape route used by the attackers.
In a possibly related incident, two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly fired three to four rounds in the air outside a house in east Delhi’s West Vinod Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday. The firing was reported around midnight outside the residence of Jitender Gupta. No injuries were reported.
A senior police officer said investigators are probing a possible link between the two incidents. Police said a PCR call alerted them to the firing by two bike-borne men. An eyewitness told police that the suspects, wearing helmets, were seen recording a video of the house before the pillion rider fired in the air and fled.
A mobile crime team and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team inspected the spot, but no empty cartridges or bullet fragments have been recovered so far. Given the sensitivity of the matter, two armed sentries have been deployed outside the complainant’s residence. An earlier case related to an extortion threat had already been registered at Madhu Vihar police station.

Can a lawless country be 'vishwa guru'? Is law & order beneath the dignity of supreme leader..or supreme 2 leaders? Women are not safe anywhere. Thugs in SUV's brandish weapons, drive on wrong side, blare vulgar music. DJ's do extreme sound pollution til 2-3 am in night in whole NCR. Stray dogs & stray cattle terrorizing the cities. Rabies is national disease of India. Cow protectors running mayhem, as independent judicial entities. What is police for? By the way...before the abuses come...I am BJP supporter..BJP Voter. Always will be. But the situation is really tragic. Really pathetic. These thugs, these hooligans, need to be crushed with an iron hand. If Naxals were our biggest threat, these anto social elements are not less than naxals.Read allPost comment
