New Delhi: A 30-year-old delivery executive was killed and three others were critically injured after two men allegedly went on a stabbing spree following a dispute in Dwarka on Sunday night.
Police said a PCR call was received around 9.30pm at Dabri police station about a fight in Madhu Vihar, Rajapuri, in which several people had been stabbed. By the time police reached the spot, the injured had already been taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared Govind Jha, a resident of Mohan Garden, dead.
The three injured — Parvez Hussain (33), a warehouse worker; Anees (25), a tailor; and Rohit (20) — are undergoing treatment and are stated to be in a serious condition.
According to sources, the incident began with an argument between Rohit and two men following a minor collision. The altercation escalated when the men allegedly attacked Rohit with a knife. Parvez and Anees, who tried to intervene, were also stabbed.
Govind Jha, who was working as a delivery executive, arrived at the spot while making a delivery. Seeing the assault, he attempted to intervene but was stabbed in the chest.
Police said the accused have been identified using local inputs and CCTV footage, and raids are underway to apprehend them. A case has been registered under sections related to murder and attempt to murder.
DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said attempts were being made to give the incident a communal colour through messages circulating on social media. “Four people were stabbed by two attackers. The injured belong to two different communities. We urge people not to spread misinformation. Strict action will be taken against those trying to communalise the incident,” he said.
