Dwarka SUV crash video: Speeding Scorpio hit Sahil's bike head-on after avoiding oncoming bus, then rammed into cab
NEW DELHI: A video clip related to the fatal road accident in Dwarka South that claimed the life of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra, has emerged showing the speeding SUV avoiding an oncoming bus seconds before the mishap.
The 12-second clip reportedly shot from inside the vehicle ends right before the accident when the SUV hit Sahil Dhaneshra's bike leaving him dead on the spot.
Before the fatal crash, the SUV had narrowly avoided an oncoming bus when the driver swerved to the left in time but failed to avoid the bike coming from the opposite direction on the single-lane road.
Police confirmed that after hitting the bike, the SUV then rammed into a stationary Swift Dzire car from behind.
The injured taxi driver, Ajit Singh, was shifted to IGI Hospital. His statement has been recorded, while the final medical opinion is awaited.
All three vehicles have been seized and mechanically inspected. Relevant documents have been verified, and CCTV footage from the area has been collected. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Dwarka South under Sections 281/106(1)/125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
Minor apprehended
Police confirmed that the Scorpio was allegedly being driven by a juvenile without a valid driving licence. The accused was apprehended at the scene, produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and sent to an Observation Home.
On February 10, the JJB granted interim bail to the minor, citing his Class 10 board examinations.
Footage raises questions
Sources said video footage of the incident shows the Scorpio travelling at high speed moments before the collision.
Investigators are also examining claims that the occupants were recording social media reels prior to the crash and had overtaken a bus shortly before impact.
Mother alleges ‘criminal activity’
Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has alleged reckless driving and demanded strict action.
“My son was going to office. They were driving at extreme speed to make fun reels. The Scorpio was in the opposite lane performing stunts. This is not just an accident — this is criminal activity,” she said.
She further alleged that the driver did not apply brakes after the collision and claimed that multiple prior overspeeding challans existed against him.
“No one is safe on the road if minors drive without licences. Accountability must extend to the vehicle owner,” she added.
A life cut short
Sahil Dhaneshra, a BBA final-semester student, had secured admission to a university in Manchester and was preparing to pursue higher studies in the UK later this year.
Described by family as focused and independent, he had taken up part-time work to support his education.
