Delhi: Woman jumps into Yamuna river from Signature Bridge; rescue operations under way

NEW DELHI: A woman allegedly jumped into the Yamuna River from North Delhi's Signature Bridge on Wednesday.

According to a senior officer, the police control room received a call regarding the incident around 6.30 am. The information prompted an immediate response from emergency services.

Teams from the Delhi Police, along with personnel from the Delhi Fire Service, were quickly mobilised and dispatched to the site of the incident.


Upon arrival, search and rescue operations were launched in the river area beneath the bridge. Divers from the fire department, equipped with rescue gear, began combing the waters in an effort to locate the woman.

The area around the bridge was also secured to facilitate the operations and ensure the safety of onlookers and commuters.

Cops are currently working to ascertain the identity of the woman and the events that may have led up to the incident. They are also reviewing surveillance footage from CCTV cameras installed on and around the Signature Bridge, which may provide vital clues in the ongoing investigation.
