Shraddha Walkar Murder Case LIVE Updates: Polygraph test incomplete after Aaftab complained of fever; to continue again on Friday

The Polygraph test of Aaftab Amin Poonawala remained incomplete on Thursday after he complained of fever. Police will bring him back to FSL on Friday for the rest of the polygraph, said Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) PRO Sanjeev K Gupta. A collective team of experts will decide when narco test will be conducted. Stay with TOI for all updates:

Whatever necessary action had to be taken in that matter was done by police at that time. The application that was given by the complainant was also investigated. After the investigation, the complainant herself gave a written statement that there is no dispute. Her friend's parents also cajoled her to resolve the dispute. She gave the written statement and after that the case was closed.

Case closed in 2020 after she withdrew complaint, says Maharashtra Police

Maharashtra Police on Wednesday said that based on a complaint by Shraddha Walkar in 2020, they had begun an investigation but the case was closed after she gave a written statement to withdraw the case. DCP of Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) Commissionerate, Suhas Bavache said that Shraddha in her written statement had stated that "the dispute between herself and Aaftab Poonawala was resolved."

Aaftab likely to undergo narco analysis on Thursday

Narco test on Aaftab Poonawala is likely to be conducted on Thursday, sources said. The narco analysis cannot be conducted if he is found to be "disturbed" in the preliminary tests.

During the polygraph test, two people will pose questions to Aaftab, while others will monitor his physiological reactions on a computer screen. Sensors will be attached to his body, which will monitor different parameters, such as the breathing rate, pulse, blood pressure and perspiration.

Aaftab threatened to kill me, cut my body into pieces, Shraddha wrote to cops in 2020

Shraddha Walkar, who was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, Aaftab Poonawala, at their south Delhi home in May 2022, had written to the Tulinj police in Maharashtra exactly two years ago in 2020 that he had attempted to kill her and had specifically threatened to cut her body into pieces. The couple lived in Vasai East in Maharashtra back then.

HC rejects plea to transfer case to CBI as police say investigation 80% complete

Delhi Police on Tuesday told the high court that their probe into the Shraddha Walkar murder case was 80% complete. The cops were responding to a PIL demanding the case be transferred to CBI. Dismissing the plea with costs, a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad said it was a “publicity interest litigation” and not a single ground was made out. “Tell us one good reason for transferring the matter…Parents don't have any grievance.

Sources at Police Headquarters said top cop Sanjay Arora was now closely monitoring the developments and had tightened the noose on the police station staff. Action will be taken against erring and negligent officials, he added.

Shraddha murder: Experts say electric cutter, saw-teeth knife used in such crimes

Forensic experts and lawyers who have dealt with cases where the victims were chopped into several pieces suspect the use of a big saw-teeth knife by Aaftab Amin Poonawala, accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and cutting her body into 35 pieces. In Walker's case, the Delhi Police hasn't been able to recover the weapon(s) yet. However, some media reports suggested the use of a large chopper or a saw-like knife in the crime. Police have asserted that Poonawala has confessed to his crime, though his lawyer has contested this claim. The experts say that the weapons used in such cases in the past were either electric cutters or a saw-teeth knife of a minimum size of 18 to 20 inches.

"His parents aware he beats me": Shraddha wrote to cops in 2020

His (Aaftab) parents are aware that he beats me and that he tried to kill me. They also know about we living together in east and they visit on weekends. I lived with him till date as we were supposed to get married anytime soon and had the blessings of his family. Henceforth, I am not willing to live with him, so any kind of physical damage should be considered coming from him as he has been blackmailing me to kill me or hurt me whenever he sees me anywhere.

Today he tried to kill me by suffocating me and he scares, and blackmail's me that he will kill me, cut me up in pieces and throw me away. Its been six months he has been hitting me, but I did not have the guts to go to he police, because he would threaten to kill me. His parents are aware that he tried to kill me.
