Delhi Murder Case Updates: Blood samples of victim's father, brother collected for DNA analysis

The blood samples of the father and brother of the woman, who was allegedly killed and sawed into 35 pieces by her live-in partner in Mehrauli here, have been collected for DNA matching with body parts recovered till now, police said. Aaftab Amin Poonawala (28) allegedly strangled Shraddha Walkar and sawed her body into 35 pieces which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for weeks at his residence in Mehrauli before dumping them across the city over several days past midnight. Investigators probing the Mehrauli killing case are likely to take help from other police districts in Delhi and will take accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala to locations like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to establish the sequence of events leading to the brutal murder of Shradha Walkar, sources said on Thursday. Police was granted custody of Poonawala for five more days by a court here. (PTI)

Mehrauli killing: People backed by VHP, other groups take out candle marches in Delhi

People "angry" over the gruesome killing of 27-year-old Shradha Walkar took out candle marches in the city on Thursday to demand capital punishment for the accused, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said. The candle marches were taken out from eight different locations in South Delhi's Mehrauli area at 6pm to also demand enactment of stringent laws against "illegal religious conversion and love jihad" in the national capital, the VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal told PTI on Thursday.

Mehrauli Murder: Investigators visits Aftab's rented house in Chhattarpur again

A Delhi Police team on Wednesday again visited the rented house, in south Delhi's Chhattarpur, of Aftab Ameen Poonawalla (28), who has been arrested for allegedly killing his live-in partner and chopping her body into 35 pieces for disposal. "The investigators have also spoken to the landlady and the rent agreement was also seized by police," said an official. (IANS)

A screenshot of a purported chat between Shraddha Walkar and her friend came out on Wednesday, showing that she was active on social media till early evening of the day she was murdered in May.
