Delhi: BJP MP's PSO found dead at his residence

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police constable posted as the personal security officer of BJP MP Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh allegedly committed suicide at the politician's residence by shooting himself with his service pistol on Thursday evening. Police said that it was the first day of his posting. No suicide note has been recovered. An enquiry is underway to find out whether he had any grievance regarding his posting.


DCP (New Delhi) Eish Singh said that the security guards at the MP’s residence informed them about the suicide around 4.30pm. The PSO, Unish Kumar (46), was found lying dead in a pool of blood in a room with a bullet wound in his head.

Kumar was serving with Delhi Police since 1993 and was recently posted with the security unit’s visiting VVIP Protectee Cell. Police said that Kumar was earlier posted with another cell of the same unit.

Prima facie, a family dispute is suspected to be the reason behind the suicide. A probe under Section 174 CrPC has been initiated to establish the cause of suicide. Kumar is survived by his wife and three children.
