Delhi shocker: Over Rs 2,000 loan dispute, teen stabbed multiple times in neck in Rohini; two arrested
NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old youth is battling for his life after he was stabbed repeatedly in the neck in northwest Delhi’s Rohini for allegedly being unable to repay a loan of Rs 2,000.
The incident took place on Saturday in Shyam Colony, Budh Vihar Phase 2, under the jurisdiction of Begumpur police station.
The accused have been identified as Ratan (35) and his associate Shyam, also known as Sameer or Somveer (40), both residents of Sector 25, Rohini. Police said another youth, Aditya, who tried to intervene and pacify the dispute, also suffered a minor injury to his hand.
Police said they received a PCR call at around 1.55 pm reporting that a boy had been stabbed in the neck in Gali No. 23 of the colony. A police team rushed to the spot but learnt that the injured had already been shifted to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital by PCR staff.
At the hospital, the victim was identified as Kuldeep, a 19-year-old painter living in Shyam Colony. Doctors found that he had sustained serious stab injuries on the right side of his neck. Due to the severity of the injuries, Kuldeep was taken to the operation theatre for surgery and later shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Police said his condition remains critical.
Police said bloodstains were found on the road at the crime scene. The crime team and the forensic science laboratory (FSL) team were called to examine the spot and collect evidence.
A senior police officer said the preliminary investigation revealed that the stabbing followed a quarrel over the repayment of a small loan.
“The injured Kuldeep had an altercation with the accused Ratan over Rs 2,000. During the argument, Ratan, along with his associate, attacked Kuldeep with a knife,” police said.
A case has been registered at Begumpur police station under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, both accused were apprehended, and the knife used in the attack was recovered at the instance of the main accused.
